Simple and smooth cast iron plate

The cast iron fireplace backplates, smooth plates or plain plates, have been produced by the Birdie foundry family since 1850. Cast at a melting temperature between 1480°C and 1500°C, they are made by imprinting in a sand mold following a model in aluminum, wood, cast iron, or resin.

Cast iron is one of the few materials that, due to its very high melting point, does not deform or break when in contact with flame. Furthermore, cast iron is the most economical in terms of price.

About Cast Iron Plates

In a distant past, smooth cast iron plates were placed vertically in the hearth and remained visible from the kitchen side, allowing heat to also warm the adjacent room.

The fireplace backplates are intended to be placed on the floor to reflect heat into the room and protect the bricks or masonry from the heat of the fire in the hearth. Due to their simplicity, they are also placed on the vertical part of the hearth, where they are called simple plates. These smooth plates or plain plates can also be installed at the back or on the sides of a barbecue.

The floor plates can also be used as a griddle for cooking.

We offer a variety of dimensions and thicknesses of plates to ensure excellent fire resistance.

It is recommended not to extinguish the fire with water or any other liquid product, as this would cause a thermal shock that cast iron cannot withstand.

It is also advisable not to clamp (tighten) the cast iron plate, as its dimensions vary slightly with temperature changes.

We produce all dimensions of smooth fireplace plates or plain fireplace plates that you may need, with the possibility of custom cutting.

Our cast iron floor plates are painted black to be presentable for sale, but this paint will not hold up after the first exposure to fire.

We deliver throughout France and abroad. We have a large stock of cast iron plates; do not hesitate to contact us for any inquiries.

Cast iron griddle

Rybacki cast iron griddles allow for various cooking methods (meats, fish, mussels, prawns, vegetables...) with the same satisfaction that comes from cooking on natural or enameled cast iron.

Our griddles fit on all types of heat sources, fireplace fires, barbecues, gas burners...

For first use, regardless of the heating method, gradually increase the temperature to avoid thermal shock.
Pour 1 glass of milk onto the surface of the griddle and soak it up before boiling, and repeat a second time.
Before each cooking session, lightly oil the griddle and after each use, soak up and scrape off any excess cooking residue. Wipe and lightly grease.

When cold, cover the griddle with paper to protect it from dust and moisture.
